About the Institute
The mission of the Nonprofit Sector Resource Institute (NSRI) at Seton Hall University is to build the capacity of the nonprofit sector in New Jersey and nationally, utilizing the resources of the Seton Hall community in collaboration with other individuals and organizations who have a similar interest.
In
addition to its civic engagement and social justice objectives, NSRI
supports the University in its mission of preparing Seton Hall
students to become servant leaders in their professional and
community lives.
This mission is accomplished by:
- Providing professional development programs for nonprofit management professionals
- Offering technical assistance to nonprofit organizations in management-related areas
- Conducting and disseminating relevant applied research
- Providing opportunities for Seton Hall students, faculty and staff to support the work of nonprofit organizations, particularly those working in Seton Hall's surrounding urban communities.
Vision
NSRI strives to improve and expand the programs and services of the institute at Seton Hall University to make it an academic-based nonprofit management support and research center that is a national leader in the field, commensurate with the quality and prestige of the University's 7th nationally ranked graduate nonprofit management program (US News and World Report, 2004.)
The institute aims to engage the University community (students, faculty, staff and alumni) in providing supports to nonprofit organizations, particularly those working in the distressed urban communities surrounding the University, in a coordinated effort, to affect community change. At the same time, the NSRI aims to assist in preparing Seton Hall students for leadership roles in the community.
