Reverend Paul A. Holmes
Ordained a priest in 1981, Father Paul Holmes is Vice President for
Mission and Ministry, and Associate Professor of moral and
sacramental theology, at Seton Hall University. A native of Newark
and West Orange, New Jersey, he graduated Seton Hall with a B.A. in
sociology and, in five years of study at the North American College
in Rome, Father Holmes earned an S.T.B. from the Gregorian
University (1980), and an S.T.L. in moral theology from the Lateran
University's Academia Alfonsiana (1982).
Returning to the United States, his first parochial assignment was
St. Matthew's in Ridgefield. After two years, he was invited to be
the associate pastor of the Cathedral parish in Newark and, while
ministering there; he attended Yale University and earned an S.T.M.
(1986), studying with the Benedictine liturgist Aidan Kavanagh.
Finishing his thesis, he was sent back to Rome for doctoral studies
at the Angelicum, after which Archbishop McCarrick assigned him to
Seton Hall University's priest community and named him the Associate
Director of the archdiocesan Worship Office. After he defended his
doctoral thesis in 1991, Father Holmes was hired by the Department
of Religious Studies at the rank of assistant professor. While
teaching at Seton Hall, he helped inaugurate Clergy Consultation and
Treatment Service, an interdisciplinary therapeutic treatment
program for priests at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Westchester,
New York, and served as the program's first spiritual director. In
1998, he earned tenure and promotion at Seton Hall, and was elected
Chair of the department.
During the 1999-2000 academic year, Father Holmes was invited to be
the first occupant of the Carl J. Peter Chair of Preaching at the
North American College, teaching seminars in homiletics as an
adjunct professor at the Angelicum, and doing research for his book,
Authentic Preaching: Living the Gospel Out Loud in the Assembly.
Returning from his sabbatical, he became Associate Provost of
Academic Administration at Seton Hall, continuing to teach courses
in the Religious Studies department. In 2001, Father Holmes became
Seton Hall University's first Vice President for Mission and
Ministry. Father Holmes has published articles in numerous journals,
he has lectured widely on both liturgy and preaching, and he is the
author of This Sunday's Scripture, a monthly homily service of
Twenty-Third Publications/Bayard in Mystic, Connecticut. During his
tenure at Seton Hall University, Father Holmes has been the weekend
assistant at St. Gabriel's Parish in Saddle River, St. Stephen's
Parish in South River, and is presently serving the parish of St.
Rose of Lima in Short Hills.
Mary Baughman
Since 1999, Ms. Baughman has been executive director of the Jersey
Battered Women’s Service, Inc.(JBWS), an agency which offers a range
of services for victims of domestic violence and their children;
provides counseling for the abusers; and education and training for
communities in Morris County. Prior to joining JBWS, Ms. Baughman
had nearly 25 years of business and finance experience with AT&T;
her last position was as Financial Vice President for the Consumer
Long Distance business. She holds a BA in mathematics from Lycoming
College, and an MS in statistics from Rutgers.
Eric Breit
Since 2002, Mr. Breit has been the Program Director for the Greater
Philadelphia and New Jersey Program of the Nonprofit Finance Fund, a
national organization. In addition to making loans to nonprofits,
NFF provides planning grants and technical assistance. Mr. Breit
markets NFF products to nonprofits, coordinates and presents
workshops, and provides advisory services throughout New Jersey. He
previously worked for the NFF program in San Francisco. He holds a
BA degree from the University of Florida, and has studied at the
Rhode Island School of Design.
Mary Jo Buchanan, LCSW, MPA
Since 1989, Ms. Buchanan has been the Executive Director of Family
Service of Morris County; she has experience in clinical social
work, nonprofit agency management, fundraising, and marketing. She
holds Master’s Degrees in Social Work and Public Administration. She
was honored in 2003 as New Jersey’s Social Worker of the Year, and
in 2004 she received the Schaeberle Leadership Award by Morris
Tomorrow. She serves as an adjunct Professor at Seton Hall
University’s Center for Public Service where she teaches Financial
Management of Nonprofits.
Philip DiSalvio, Ed.D
Dr. DiSalvio now serves as Director of SetonWorldWide, Seton Hall
University’s online campus, and as Academic Director of the Online
Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. He holds a doctoral
degree from Harvard University and a post-doctoral fellowship from
Johns Hopkins University. He has served as a board member of
Morristown Memorial Hospital, the University of Medicine and
Dentistry of New Jersey, and the Northern New Jersey Regent Advisory
Committee of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has
published in the field of health care administration.
Stephanie Hauge
Ms. Hauge is Director of Finance and Administration for the Doris
Duke Charitable Foundation and Related Entities, with responsibility
for all administrative, HR and financial management for the six
related foundations. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2002, she
had a distinguished career in financial management and business
process re-engineering in the corporate sector; this included 20
years with AT&T where she was a Financial Vice President and CFO for
the Corporate Center Division. Ms. Hauge is active in her church as
a lector, music minister, and director of the Rite of Christian
Initiation for Adults. She has a BS in accounting, and and MBA in
finance from Seton Hall University; she also holds a certificate in
international studies. She is a trustee of Caldwell College, a
member of the Advisory Council of Seton Hall University, and an
active member of the Financial Women’s Association.
Jim Kellogg
Mr. Kellogg is the President of J.C. Kellogg Foundation. From
1994-2003, he served as the President of the Community Foundation of
New Jersey. He is a graduate of Princeton University and received a
law degree from Harvard Law School. He has served on the board of
Prudential Insurance, New Jersey Transit, and Children’s Specialized
Hospital. He has been by the Scholarship Fund for Inner-City
Children. Currently, he is a trustee of Bloomfield College and
serves on the finance committee of Meridian Health System.
Louis E. Levy
Before his retirement, Mr. Levy was Vice Chairman-in-charge of
Professional Standards and Quality Assurance at KPMG Peat Marwick,
and was a member of the Board of Directors from 1978 to 1990. Mr.
Levy is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University and has
received the Distinguished Community Service Award from Brandeis
University. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of
Scudder Mutual Funds, ISI Mutual Funds, and Household International.
Mary Kathryn Logan
A Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Wachovia Trust
Company, Ms. Logan has 26 years of banking experience in internal
auditing, personal trust, and charitable funds services. During her
years with Wachovia, she has provided administrative and
consultative services to individuals, corporations, and nonprofit
organizations. Prior to her banking career, Ms. Logan serviced as
budget coordinator for a major medical center in Oklahoma. She has a
BS in business administration from Oklahoma State University, and a
degree from the School for Bank Administration of the University of
Wisconsin. She is a member of the board of the Independent College
Fund of New Jersey, and a member of the Research Committee of the
Council on Foundations.
Audrey M. Winkler
Ms. Winkler earned an outstanding this reputation through her recent
work as Vice President of Operations and Real Estate for the New
Jersey Performing Arts Center and as Director of Operations for the
Liberty Science Center. She has over twenty years of experience in
directing all aspects of business operations and systems, and she
has expertise in working with start-up operations. She has a BS in
environmental planning and design from Cook College, Rutgers
University, and an MS in urban planning from Columbia University.
She serves as an adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University’s Center
for Public Service.
Naomi BailinWish, Ph.D
Director, Center for Public Service, Seton Hall University
Dr. Wish since 1989 has served as the Director of the Center for
Public Service at Seton Hall University. She is a nationally
recognized leader in the field of philanthropy and nonprofit
studies. She has served as the chair of the Nonprofit Management
Education Section of the National Association of Schools of Public
Affairs and Administration and on the board of the Association for
Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action. In
addition, from 1987-88 she served as the President of the Northeast
Political Science Association and received a fellowship from the
American Council on Education. She has authored numerous articles,
which have appeared in such publication as Nonprofit Management and
Leadership, and the Seton Hall Law Review. She holds an
undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University and
masters and doctoral degrees from Rutgers University.
